No net connection make Hell all something something….

For those who have been wondering where I have been, I haven't had a net connection. Lately, my connection has been really flakey, dropping quite a bit. Friday the connection was down more than it was up, and then on saturday, it went down and has not been up since. The ISP have been giving me, and others in the neighborhood, the run around. At first, they were not answering the calls. Then they were saying "But you've been the only person to complain", then they said it was my router (effecting the entire neighborhood), and now they are saying its a part on their tower. Its not been fixed yet. Right now I am borrowing a dialup connection to post this.

In the time without a connection, I've been doing other things to try and keep me preoccupied. Saturday and sunday I worked trying to fix things around here. Yesterday I worked on my Jimmy, and also practiced some striping (will post images later). Also, when you are consumed with lots of free time with nothing to do, you think of odd things. Like fermented urine smells a bit like shrimp.

Also, we had some more baby chicks hatch, as well as some baby turkeys hatch yesterday. They're SOOO cute. Will also post pictures when I have a faster connection and can get my own computers online.

In addition, Monstershit has been running really hot, as high as 138F at idle. I had #2 processor fan on funkyshit go out, but luckily I had a spare.

Hopefully I can be back online soon.

Networking news

For users of VoIP, expect issues in the future. Basically the telecoms who handle net connections are starting to block various VoIP services, such as Skype, Vonage, etc. More scary shit akin to the tiered internet that some places are wanting. Pisses me off personally, because you pay for a service, and they purposely limiting what that service can do, further down the road after you've started paying them. You pay for being able to access the net with speeds in such and such range, not access the net with certain speeds, unless you're using this or that app, at which we'll drop it even more. The crappy thing is some of these places are making your entire connection goto shit, not just the VoIP connection.

Also, AT&T Customers (which is most people with broadband in the St Louis area), expect for the NSA to know what you're doing. Apparently, they've been diverting traffic to the National Security Agency, letting them know what everyone is doing. Guy getting kiddy porn? He's nabbed. Kid downloading MP3's? They know. Grandma's email of the pictures of her grandkids, they got those too. Bad thing about it (morals and the lack of privacy aside), is that its not quite legal.

'Allo 'Allo

First I want to start off with a bit of humor, or atleast I thought so. Checkout the URL that the image is hosted on too.

Hope everyone had a good April Fools day. Was neat seeing all the places do something, however, what was the deal with the Pink pony crap? A good half dozen sites, atleast, changed their pages to be pink and chanted "OMG PONIES!". Wasn't funny I thought.

Saturday, cruise season starts! Yay!

In other news, Apple released Boot Camp, a program to help setup multiboot systems on Intel Macs. Its in beta, but, hell, so is gMail. This is a nice step for easy multibooting, since effectively Apple says its ok now, and is helping. The next best thing is virtualization (which Leopard supposedly will have)

Crazy shit

Today was really craptacular. My monitor died and KVM died, simultaniously, and then within 45 minutes, the hinge for the screen on my laptop broke. Right now I'm using a shitty old gateway monitor thats been well abused. its like 9 years old, plus was flooded once. End result, is even with brightness cranked up and everything well calibrated, its dim and the colors aren't that great. I was really not wanting to replace my old monitor. Even though it was older, it was nice and bright and showed the colors really well, and kicked ass all things concidered. This one doesn't even have a base.

For other crazy zaniness, Ballmer admits to brainwashing his children to hate the competition. Fucking poor bastards, never had a chance….
