No net connection make Hell all something something….

For those who have been wondering where I have been, I haven't had a net connection. Lately, my connection has been really flakey, dropping quite a bit. Friday the connection was down more than it was up, and then on saturday, it went down and has not been up since. The ISP have been giving me, and others in the neighborhood, the run around. At first, they were not answering the calls. Then they were saying "But you've been the only person to complain", then they said it was my router (effecting the entire neighborhood), and now they are saying its a part on their tower. Its not been fixed yet. Right now I am borrowing a dialup connection to post this.

In the time without a connection, I've been doing other things to try and keep me preoccupied. Saturday and sunday I worked trying to fix things around here. Yesterday I worked on my Jimmy, and also practiced some striping (will post images later). Also, when you are consumed with lots of free time with nothing to do, you think of odd things. Like fermented urine smells a bit like shrimp.

Also, we had some more baby chicks hatch, as well as some baby turkeys hatch yesterday. They're SOOO cute. Will also post pictures when I have a faster connection and can get my own computers online.

In addition, Monstershit has been running really hot, as high as 138F at idle. I had #2 processor fan on funkyshit go out, but luckily I had a spare.

Hopefully I can be back online soon.

Ugh

Was out at the barn, and it was pouring rain like piss out of a boot. Had tree limbs fall down near us when we were driving and such.

When I got back home, had to replace a fan in funkyshit, so while I was at it, I dropped in another one. has 3 120mm fans now. Think another might be on the way out too though, since its not putting off as much CFM's.

All sorts of shit for sale…

Yesterday got some goodies in, parts to get the plotter running again, and my Linux PDA. Things pretty cool.

Also, since I had to reboot, the IP problem is back on the new card.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The good – Got some cool stuff on the way, like parts to get the plotter going again. Also got SR3 to compile. Plus the carshow sunday went pretty good. Few other cool things going on but don't want to jinx anything.

The bad – SR3 compiles, however crashes when you goto race, the net connection has been spotty, arm and leg hurts, and sunburnt all over from sunday.

The ugly – just had to restart Funkyshit. Tip for the wise, do not loop network shares. On each of my machines I have shares setup to see the my home director of the others. Well, while looking at funkyshit's shares on monstershit, I accidentally loaded up monstershits share. Samba on both machines locked up, and on funkyshit was so bad that it turned into a zombie. 37 days, 4 hours, 10 minutes.

Also, still have people bugging me for SR3. One guy I had talked to about 14 hours ago and asked how it was coming along. He just now asked me again if I had it ready for release. DO NOT BUG THE PROGRAMMER! It'll be released when its able. I'm working as fast as I can on it. Things are running better, but still not as good as they should. If I keep having to field answers, thats less time I can work on SR3.

Tonight I have the car club meeting.

Net connection, uptime, etc

Ok, net connection is back, kinda. Its down more than its up though. ISP guys will be out next week with new parts to make it better.

Also, funkyshit here has broken his old uptime record, now at 32 days. Doesnt sound like much, but every time he got close to a month, had a brownout or something.

Got the last parts on order for making something for the plotter computer.

This weekend have the ARCC carshow I'll be at.

Still trying to get things worked out on SR3. Source Forge got the account setup, so trying to upload the source, but no binaries yet. I hope to have the source in the CVS sometime today, if my connection stays up long enough.
